Now that the Year of the Blue Dragon is upon us, we here at the Korean Diabetes Association wish everyone a Happy New Year full of health and joy.
As we come into 2024, it is my great honor to serve as the 41st President of our institution and contribute to the furtherance of our society as it passionately dedicates itself to diabetes research, diabetes education, and the care of diabetes patients. Rather than merely representing Asia, our society is ready to take a giant leap forward and attain global status. I believe that achieving such a feat will not be so difficult if we were to combine the achievements and collective will of our more than 4000 members. It is my sincere hope that we will become more active in working together and collaborating with one other as we build upon the academic achievements and efforts we have made in providing effective care and education to those suffering with diabetes. This also entails working fervently in various fields such as medicine, nursing, nutrition, and social welfare, among others. Let this be a year of working together in fulfilling our mission of building toward “a world free of diabetes.”
Furthermore, it is important for our society to stress to all of our members, everyone living with diabetes, and every institution working in this field that caring for those afflicted with diabetes is not merely a matter of utilizing medication to treat it. It is also crucial to manage lifestyle habits through providing ceaseless education to patients, in addition to giving them continuous attention and feedback. In summation, I hope this will also be a year that we all strive to work in one accord with this mindset.
Warmest regards,
President
The 41st President of the Korean Diabetes Association
